Axie Infinity announced today the entry into its ecosystem of a new functionality that consists in the release of the game’s famous pets to obtain valuable rewards.
In its social networks and community contact channels, the Sky Mavis team unveiled the expected announcement around 5:00 am (Venezuela time).
Axie Infinity new mechanism
The new mechanism announced was kept as an open secret among players thanks to the little information leaked by the developers in previous days.
This new measure of “burning” or Axies releasing comes in the midst of uncertainty about the profitability of the game and the prices of its tokens: AXS and SLP.
What is axie releasing?
The initial experiment, so called by its creators, serves to let free and independent in the game lands to small fighters, and that in return, will reward their former owners with exclusive gifts of the event “Lunar New Year”.
In practical terms, these rewards are cosmetics that players who own the announced game lands will be able to wear publicly in their territories and will represent proof of participation in the first release event in the game’s history.
There are 5 reward items for the release of axies and the probability of obtaining them varies according to their rarity:
- Assortment of fireworks (35%).
- Traditional snack box (35%)
- Blossoming tree (20%)
- Fortune lamp (9%)
- Crimson tiger (1%)
Each axie released will also provide an entry ticket for the raffle of epic items and Axie Origin Coins (AOC), which serve to unlock “Origin Axies”, a unique and very valuable type of axies.
The new functionality is proposed as a measure for the search of the economic balance of the game, being the first method to counteract the existing oversupply of axies in the game market in order to favor the demand for pets.
According to the press release, the mechanism will be temporary and the axies will be released in periods of time set by the developers’ team.
This first event will last one month, from today January 20 to next February 20.
